A NOTE FROM EMILY
I have had type 1 diabetes for just over seven years. While my own feelings about it were limited to, well, my feelings about my own life (I liked to imagine it was something I could sort of control), my perspective was forced into submission when I found out a little kid I knew had also been diagnosed as having type 1. Chronic illness is different when it's not you, but someone you know (and someone who can't even pronounce your name without an "a" in it - "EmiLAY" - to boot). If anyone would care to join me in kicking type 1 where it hurts, please e-mail me at [email protected] or visit http://jdrf.org. All proceeds from "The Monster in the Corner" benefit JDRF, the global leader in type 1 diabetes research. Thank you for your support!
